CLOT x sacai x Nike LDWaffle, and more

Attention, sneaker fans.

This week, the sneaker scene is more vibrant than ever, with some big drops planned. If you’re a fan of Nike’s LDWaffle, the good news is you’ll get not one, but three variations this week, two of which will be familiar faces. The latest is none other than the eagerly awaited new Nike LDWaffle “KOD 2” from CLOT x sacai.

Adidas isn’t about to let its biggest rival get all the attention; In addition to a collaboration with a childhood favorite, expect Pharrell to show up with another iteration of an all-new silhouette. Then there’s New Balance, fresh out of its Aime Leon Dore raffle last week to offer a new collaboration with one of streetwear’s biggest names.

Below are five sneakers we have in mind this week.

Nike x Sacai x Fragment LDWaffle in “Blackened Blue” and “Light Smoke Gray”

When: October 7, 2021

If you missed your chance to pick up a pair in previous editions, here’s another pic. Dover Street Market Singapore will be hosting an online raffle of three-way sneakers in both colourways this week.

Combining both the design cues of the Nike LDV and Waffle Racer, along with the signature Sacai aesthetic and the streetwear sense of Hiroshi Fujiwara, the sneakers feature a gray or blue mesh upper with mesh overlays. Double-layered tonal suede along the forefoot, heel and eyes. As always, everything is doubled down here, so expect two Swooshes, a set of laces, and tongues. The latter will house both the Nike and Fragment woven labels. The sides feature printed text while underneath it is a waffle traction rubber outsole.

For those who can’t get enough of this style, CLOT and Sacai are back with their second iteration, this time ditching their striking orange skin for an “obsidian gray” and navy instead.

Inspired by an archival colourway derived from the 2013 ‘KOD’, this collaborative LDWaffle features a see-through upper, speckled midsole and reflective Swoosh. For a complete look, also pick up a few pieces from the accompanying unisex clothing collection.

Adidas Humanrace Sichona in Burgundy

When: October 9, 2021

Price: 749 RM

Following the success of his first Sichonas in a Team Royal Blue colourway, Pharrell launched the second of its kind, this time in an evocative burgundy hue instead. Like its predecessor, the sneakers were designed with “people at heart” and offer sporty innovation while being comfortable and stylish enough to be worn on a daily basis.

The Primeknit upper comes with the same anatomically molded TPU midsole to create a fluid shape, with Humanrace branding branded throughout for good measure. The burgundy version comes with contrasting pink accents and solar green details.

When: October 8, 2021

If there’s one brand that has won the collaboration game this year, it’s New Balance. In the wake of its partnerships with Casablanca, Ronnie Fieg, Aime Leon Dore, Joe FreshGoods and JJJJound, the American label is now teaming up with Stone Island for a sneaker geared towards innovation.

The shoe pushes the limits of design; the sneaker’s upper has been redesigned to show off a performance upper trying to convey a more heritage-focused design. 3D technology has been used to create the mesh and logo here, and the midsole is achieved via the updated hyper-lightweight FuelCell technology. To top off all of this innovation, a carbon fiber plate is proven to provide the highest energy return with propulsive transition and 360 degree functionality.

Designed for both sneaker fans and lego fans alike, this collaboration reinvents the famous sneaker by giving it the lego treatment. Here, the Three Stripes are replaced with lego bricks – in the same iconic hues as the standards, no less – and paired with matching midsoles, laces, and heel buttresses. The black version here contrasts brilliantly with the yellow details, making it one of the funniest options if you wanted a pair of kicks out of the ordinary.
