Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum has a new No.24 second jersey tattoo of the late Kobe Bryant in his memory.

Recently on the Knuckleheads podcast, Jayson Tatum was asked about his new Kobe Bryant No.24 jersey tattoo on his left leg. The relationship between these two goes back a long way.

For most of the current NBA stars, Kobe has been a huge inspiration. The Black Mamba was known to learn from the greats and pass his basketball wisdom on to the next generation.

It was a huge loss to the basketball world when Kobe died in a tragic helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. But the legacy he left still inspires people, including NBA players like Tatum.

Speaking of the tattoo, Tatum said, “Someone so important and influential to me, I always knew I would eventually get one.”

The relationship between Kobe Bryant and Jayson Tatum

Tatum grew up as a Kobe fan. In fact, some of Kobe’s signature moves can be seen in Jayson’s play, especially when it comes to post-ups and iso play. Even former NBA volume scorer Gilbert Arenas sees the similarities between them.

In a Tutum crash video, Gilbert predicted that “in 2 or 3 years you will see a player who dominates this game at the level of Kobe. Because he has all these intangibles that are going to make him compare to this guy. “

Even Kobe made a blackout video of Jayson’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 playoffs on ESPN’s DETAIL. Shortly after the video was released, Kobe reached out to Tatum and invited him to train with him that summer.

Recalling those days on JJ Reddick’s podcast, Jayson said, “It was just a surreal moment. Just watch it, remember myself when I was young, watch it on TV and be like, that’s how I want to be. That’s why I love basketball because it inspired me ”.
