Isaiah Thomas goes full Kobe mode with wild 81 point play

Isaiah Thomas has always been inspired by Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. Thomas wears Kobe’s iconic shoes and his don’t give up attitude certainly epitomizes Kobe’s.

In Jamal Crawford’s Crawsover Pro-Am league this weekend, Thomas lost an 81-point game as he looked unstoppable with shots falling after shots. It was on fire as was the Lakers legend’s 81-point masterpiece against the Toronto Raptors in January 2006.

Kobe’s scoring exit is the second-highest individual total of all time behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point explosion.

Two days before the game, Thomas expressed his emotions by tweeting:

It was pure coincidence that he lost 81 points after this tweet. Highlights of Thomas’ game have surfaced on social media and fans have gone mad.

The 60th choice of the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 NBA Draft, Isaiah Thomas has made a name for himself and has become a cult hero for the Boston Celtics. He was twice an All-Star and even became a finalist for the MVP Trophy. In three seasons with the Celtics, Thomas averaged 24.7 points and 6.0 assists per game.

Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 for Kyrie Irving. IT then donned the famous Purple and Gold jersey after things didn’t work out between him and the Cavaliers. He was traded for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. Thomas averaged 15.6 points and 5.0 assists in 17 games for the Lakers.

Since then he has rebounded in the league due to injuries. His latest stint was playing three games in his 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans last season.

Still, the confidence and self-confidence of the 5’9 ″ point guard has not wavered, as he consistently shows on social media. After his explosion of 81 points, he immediately tweeted:

Thomas is clearly auditioning for NBA teams to sign him as he has shown he can still produce at a high level.

Are the Lakers offering him their place in the remaining list? It will be interesting to see who ends up signing the 32-year-old keeper.
