While Y2K styles are still worn and reinvented in real time, Lizzo takes on two of the decade’s most popular silhouettes: the jersey dress and Nike’s Air Force 1 sneaker.

In a series of photos shared to Instagram on Monday, the “Rumors” singer posted some glimpses of herself as “Baby Phat mami” while wearing a First Years-inspired ensemble.

Outfit-wise, she wore a pink Baby Phat basketball jersey that featured the brand name embossed in blue and white with matching trim around her neck and arms. The bottom of the garment had a stylish tie at the hem, and there was also Baby Phat’s famous kitten on the front in matching blue.

Lizzo’s accessories followed suit with her comeback theme, including a pair of diamond-encrusted hoop earrings and square-shaped translucent brown sunglasses. Additionally, she was carrying a white Louis Vuitton Monogram Multicolore Pochette bag that was a staple of the early 2000s.

To anchor it all, she donned a pair of pristine white Nike Air Force 1 high-top sneakers that were another popular mainstay at the time. The shoes are characterized by their stylish round toe appearance and the Velcro strap at the top of the shoe. The shoe has taken to the streets, and TikTok thrives on its versatility. The sneakers are available in low, mid and high top versions and have received new looks from designers and brands like Virgil Abloh, Serena Williams and LeBron James. Some of the celebrities who have worn the style include Gigi Hadid, Naomi Osaka, and Simone Biles.

When it comes to her fashion taste, she tends to crave modern and trendy clothes. For example, she recently wore a rainbow-themed outfit paired with matching boots during SXSW for a fun and punchy ensemble that showed off her affinity for color and prints.

The “Truth Hurts” singer has also ventured into the fashion industry, having starred in campaigns for Australian eyewear brand Quay. And she appeared in a cosmetics campaign for Urban Decay in 2020.
