From Rick James to Tupac to the entire Wu-Tang Clan, Kevin Durant has long had a special kinship with music and its creators, spawning each of the three artists in a left leg tattoo sleeve. Amid a slew of boastful colorways for his 15th signature silhouette with NIKE, the latest rendition to surface pays homage to legendary music producer – and college professor – 9th Wonder.
Previously showcasing his fixation for tunes through the contrasting “Chill” and “Hype” colorways of the KD 13, the initial look marks the completion of the Producer Pack which has so far included the likes of Durant’s favorite hip-hop songwriters. in Cardo and Boi 1da. .
Inspired by Zion V: The Ballad Of Charles Douthit from his 2020 LP Douthit, 9th’s execution dresses the upper in black mesh and the heel counter in light beige suede. Just as it takes classics and remixes them with a vibrant twist, color blocking strikes with opposing hits of purple and orange on the back tongue, sock liners and inner tongue while the duality continues in the Zoom airbags and the matching brown cage.
