james lebron achieved more than originally thought in his 20 seasons as a professional basketball player in the NBA. As “the kid from Akron” nears the end of his career, he thinks about the next generation.
Recently, the Nike LeBron 20 emerged in a “NXXT” set that does just that. Intrinsically, King James’ latest signature sneaker speaks to the game of up-and-coming players like his two sons, but the upcoming version of the low-top Zoom Air-assisted shoe (which many people have compared to something outside of the Nike series Kobe) goes even further. ‘NXXT’ branding appears on the pair’s liners, using the Roman numerals for ’20’ in its pun for ‘NEXT’. The silhouette indulges in a split color combination between the left and right shoe, simultaneously nodding to past mismatched offerings from James and the Swoosh.
The majority of the left sneaker takes on a bold blue makeup that contrasts with the eye-catching orange finish on the right side. The textile construction on the upper features a semi-discernible pattern, which lends additional personality to the experimental offering. Layered profile swooshes and accents on the tongue introduce a touch of pink into the mix, perhaps as a callback to the iconic “South Beach” LeBron 8. Underfoot, the sole keeps things relatively simple through the LeBron 20with festive pull patterns donning the titular tones of their respective sides.
