Providence College Athletics Launches AdvantEdge Friar Athlete Store

PROVIDENCE, RI – Providence College Athletics announced the launch of the AdvantEdge Friar Athlete store on Wednesday, November 17.

The NCAA recently adopted a policy that allows college student-athletes to be compensated for the use of their name, image and likeness (NIL). In order to help Providence College student-athletes take advantage of these opportunities and capitalize on their NIL, the Sports Department has partnered with Opendorse, a platform that provides education, compliance monitoring and a market allowing student-athletes to enter into NIL agreements. The AdvantEdge program, which aims to help student-athletes maximize their NIL opportunities, is part of the personal improvement pillar of our Friar Edge student-athlete development program and is powered by the Opendorse platform.

The store will be open to the general public and will sell Nike t-shirts. Additional items, such as jerseys, will be added once inventory is available. The Friar Head or Skating Friar logos and the sport name on the front and the student-athlete name and number (or the sport logo for sports that do not have a jersey number) on the back are the options available. The t-shirts will be priced at $ 45 each and a percentage of each t-shirt sold will be distributed directly to that particular student-athlete through the Opendorse Deals platform.

All National Student-Athletes in all sports will be included in the AdvantEdge Friar Athlete store, provided they do not opt out. Due to F-1 student visa and immigration regulations, international student-athletes cannot be included in the AdvantEdge Friar Athlete store.
