Three-way collaborations with Nike were the origin of Chitose Abe and her popular sacai imprint in 2021, as she has previously unveiled shoe projects like KAWS, UNDERCOVER and the fragmented design of Hiroshi Fujiwara. The latter – which is made up of a duo of neutral and heavy makeup – has now resurfaced with detailed images.
Both of these iterations are designed with a more understated type of aesthetic, as each relies on neutral color blocking and text-based branding. The similarities between each pair are found in their angelic accents, all of which are scattered throughout the stacked double swooshes that are found on the mid and side walls, mesh tabs, heel overlays, and lip midsole pieces. Additionally, the branding is executed in the same manner that each pair wears black “The Classic / Fragment: sacai” written on the midsoles with the Shard bolt logo on one tongue and the traditional Nike Sportswear badges on the other. The main difference is the main shade of the base layer, as one pair is outfitted in dark navy blue while the other goes for a lighter gray presentation.
The first reports predict that these should drop during the month of August, but SNKRS has not yet confirmed this information.
