The men’s and women’s basketball of the American team is officially the champion. Led by Dawn Staley for the women and Gregg Popovich for the men, both took the gold after victories against Japan and France, respectively, in the closing days of the Tokyo Games.
It’s a record seventh straight gold for the ladies, and a fifth and final for veterans Sue Bird and (maybe?) Diana Taurasi. Either way, it’s an achievement that deserves to be celebrated between now and the Paris Games in 2024.
After the women’s victory, Nike released an epic ad commemorating their accomplishments.
“The greatest dynasty of all time,” the narrator says after pictures and clips of past and present members of the American team splashed across the screen.
The Swoosh has also dropped shirts for fans of the Women’s and Men’s Team and we’ve linked them below to pre-order. BreakingT also unveiled its own jersey, in addition to a t-shirt with the final medal tally for the American team.
