Tokyo-based Japanese brand, Nanamica, is collaborating with German sportswear giant, Puma, for a two-piece shoe collection. The dynamic duo will come together to reinvent the sportswear brand’s iconic Suede VTG silhouettes in two new colorways.
Suede shoes are notorious for their lack of water resistance, as the silhouette loses quality when wet. The Japanese brand is righting the wrongs in its next collab by slathering the classic silhouette with its signature GORE-TEX protective layer.
The collection will be available on the official Puma e-commerce site and in select Puma and Nanamica stores on Saturday August 27, 2022.

This partnership between Puma and Nanamica marks the duo’s first collaboration. The collaboration uses Puma’s Suede VTG as the basis for Nanamica’s timeless, neutral and iconic technical designs, while utilizing GORE-TEX fabric.
The suede lining of these shoes is covered in GORE-TEX fabric, which is paired with classic flat laces for a cohesive look. The collaborative shoe washes the classic shoe in cool monochromatic hues looking inward at the outward-focused aesthetic. Ayesha Atlee, Head of Design Sportsstyle Footwear at Puma, talks about the collaboration:
“For our first collaboration with Nanamica, we wanted to create something that would be instantly recognizable as a partnership between the two brands. We decided to leverage suede due to its timeless design, mixing it with Nanamica’s neutral shades and their signature use of GORE-TEX fabric was a must to accomplish our vision.”
Nanamica’s official e-commerce site presents the collaboration as follows:
“Combining a waterproof, comfortable and breathable design with a classic design that fits perfectly into your fall/winter wardrobe.”
The two colorways of the collaborative shoes include Vintage Khaki and Parisian Night. The tonal look is enhanced with waterproof qualities and flat laces, as well as subtle co-branding on the trainers’ tongues and heel.
The Suede VTG GTX Nanamica Vintage Khaki and Parisian Night colorways are available for retail at $150. The collaborative items will be available on both brands’ official e-commerce sites on Saturday, August 27, 2022. In addition to the online store, the collection will be available at select Japanese brands’ flagship stores in Daikanyama, Fukuoka, Kobe and New York. .
